Compliment Slip Template

Free, print-ready templates for every size and option of our compliment slips, with the bleed, trim and safe area marked, and the folds, cut lines and page labels where your product has them.

About this template

A compliment slip is DL size, 210 x 99mm, a third of an A4 sheet, and it is printed landscape. Our template is the slip plus 3mm of bleed on every side, so the file is 216 x 105mm. Keep text and logos at least 5mm inside the trim.

Leave room to write. A compliment slip is sent with goods, invoices or samples, with a short note in pen, so keep your logo and details to the top or one side and leave a clear space for the message. Most slips also carry the words "With compliments".

Our compliment slips are single-sided and printed on 120gsm uncoated paper, which takes a pen or pencil well. They fit a standard DL envelope, and they match our A4 letterheads, so you can reuse your letterhead header.

If any colour runs off the edge of the slip, take it out to the red bleed edge. Download the PDF for Illustrator, InDesign or Affinity, or the SVG for Canva or Inkscape. Delete or hide the guide layer before you export, then upload your PDF on the compliment slips page.

Product notes

  • Sizes: trim 210 x 99mm, landscape; artwork 216 x 105mm with 3mm bleed; safe area 5mm inside the trim.
  • Single-sided: the template has one page, and we print one side only.
  • Writing space: keep at least half the slip clear for a note. A logo and address along the top, or down the left-hand third, works well.
  • Paper: 120gsm uncoated, so it is easy to write on with a ballpoint or fountain pen.
  • Envelopes: a DL slip fits a standard DL envelope (110 x 220mm).
  • Matching letterheads: design both together using our letterhead template, so the header looks the same on both.

Using it in Word

Set a custom page size of 216 x 105mm in landscape, with all margins at zero. Place your logo and details, keep text 8mm from every edge (3mm bleed plus the 5mm safe area), and use Save as PDF.

Questions

What size is a compliment slip?

A compliment slip is DL size: 210 x 99mm, a third of an A4 sheet, printed landscape. With 3mm of bleed on every side, the artwork file is 216 x 105mm. Keep text 5mm inside the trim. It fits a standard DL envelope, which is 110 x 220mm.

What should go on a compliment slip?

Usually your logo, business name, address, phone number, email and website, plus the words "With compliments". Leave a clear space for a handwritten note: at least half the slip is a good rule. If your company is limited, you may want the same registered details as your letterhead, so the stationery matches.

Can I write on your compliment slips?

Yes. They are printed on 120gsm uncoated paper, which has no shiny coating, so ballpoint, gel and fountain pens write cleanly on it. Keep a clear area in your design for the note, and avoid dark backgrounds where people will write, because pen ink won't show on them.
