How we estimate this
Dispatched 5 working days after artwork approval. An estimate, not a guarantee. It assumes you order before 12pm GMT on a working day and your artwork is approved the same day, then adds the working days to dispatch for the options you chose and 1 to 2 working days of delivery to the UK mainland, skipping bank holidays.

500 A4 leaflets (135gsm gloss, folded in half to A5) cost £64 (12.8p each, total price, zero-rated, no VAT). Free delivery to the UK mainland. Orders are dispatched 5 working days after you approve your proof.
How much do 1,000 roll-folded DL leaflets cost? 1,000 leaflets · £81

We print folded leaflets from an A4 sheet in full colour on both sides, on 135gsm or 170gsm gloss, folded to A5 (half fold) or to DL (roll fold or Z fold), from 100 per design. A folded leaflet gives you more room than a flat one while staying easy to hand out and post: a half fold gives four panels, and a roll fold or a Z fold gives six. Folded leaflets are zero-rated for VAT where they qualify under HMRC VAT Notice 701/10: a single A4 sheet folded down, on paper rather than card, ordered in a quantity of at least 50 and meant to be read. Our prices are shown on that basis. Check an on-screen proof before you pay, and delivery is free to UK mainland addresses.

Supply two pages of 303 x 216mm (an A4 sheet laid landscape, plus 3mm bleed): page 1 is the outside of the sheet and page 2 the inside. Keep text at least 5mm from the trim and from each fold. A half fold has one fold in the middle, at 148.5mm. A Z fold has three equal 99mm panels. A roll fold has a 97mm tuck-in flap and two 100mm panels (folds at 97 and 197mm on the outside, mirrored on the inside), so the flap tucks in neatly. Our free templates mark every fold, panel and width. PDF in CMYK, fonts embedded or outlined, images at 300dpi.

Download a folded leaflet templateWhich fold should I choose?
A half fold to A5 gives four large panels, good for programmes and price lists. A roll fold to DL gives six panels that open in sequence, good for telling a story step by step. A Z fold to DL opens like a concertina, so all panels can be seen at once.
Is a tri-fold leaflet the same as a roll fold?
Yes. A tri-fold leaflet usually means a roll fold: an A4 sheet folded twice into three DL-sized panels a side, with the end panel tucking inside the others. A Z fold also gives three panels a side, but it folds in a zigzag so it opens like a concertina. Both finish at DL size, 99 x 210mm, so they suit racks, envelopes and menus.
Why is one panel of a roll fold narrower than the others?
On a roll fold the end panel folds inside the other two, so it is made a little narrower. If all three panels were the same width, the inside panel would catch on the fold and the leaflet would buckle. Our roll fold template shows the width of every panel on the outside and the inside, which is mirrored. Keep text at least 5mm from each fold so nothing disappears into the crease.
Will a DL folded leaflet fit a DL envelope?
Yes. Roll fold and Z fold leaflets finish at DL, 99 x 210mm, and a standard DL envelope is 110 x 220mm (ISO 269), so they slip in with room to spare. That makes them a good choice for mailings and for sending out with invoices. A half fold finishes at A5, 148 x 210mm, which needs a larger envelope.
How do I set up the outside and inside pages?
Supply one PDF with two pages, each an A4 sheet laid landscape with 3mm bleed: page 1 is the outside of the sheet and page 2 the inside. On a half fold, the outside shows the back cover on the left and the front cover on the right. Our free folded leaflet templates, one for each fold, label every panel on both pages and mark the folds, so each part of your design lands in the right place.
Is there VAT on folded leaflets?
Usually not. A single A4 sheet folded down to A5 or DL is still a leaflet under HMRC VAT Notice 701/10 (paragraph 3.3), so it is zero-rated where it qualifies: on paper rather than card, ordered in a quantity of at least 50, meant to be read, and with no more than 25% of the area for filling in or detaching (paragraph 3.4). Our prices are shown on that basis. See our VAT on printing page for the conditions.
Should I choose 135gsm or 170gsm gloss?
135gsm gloss is lighter, a good choice for large runs and door drops. 170gsm gloss is heavier and feels more substantial in the hand, which suits price lists, programmes and leaflets that people keep. Both are paper rather than card, so folded leaflets on either weight can be zero-rated where they meet the other conditions.
What is the minimum order?
100 leaflets per design, and you can order 100, 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500 or 5,000. Prices are per design, so two versions of a leaflet, such as different price lists for two branches, are two designs of at least 100 each. Change the quantity on this page to see the price for each quantity, including any VAT due.
Can I see a proof before I pay?
Yes. Upload your artwork in your basket and our automatic check looks at size, bleed, colour mode, resolution and fonts straight away, at no charge. You then see your leaflet, with the panel order shown, on screen with the trim, bleed and safe area marked, and approve it before you pay. The check does not read your wording, so check names, numbers and dates yourself. For a second pair of eyes, add a manual proof (the fee is shown in your basket) and a person will check your file and send you a proof to approve.
How much is delivery, and how long does it take?
Delivery is free to UK mainland addresses. Your order is dispatched in the number of working days shown for your options, counted from the day you approve your proof, and most mainland deliveries arrive 1 to 2 working days after dispatch (an estimate: the courier sets the final time). For Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands and islands, the Isles of Scilly, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, please contact us for a quote before you order.
What if there is a problem with my leaflets?
If your leaflets arrive faulty or do not match the proof you approved, tell us with your order number and photos. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 you have 30 days from delivery to reject faulty goods for a refund, or we can reprint them.

How Ordering Works
-
Choose your options. Pick the size, paper, finish and quantity on the product page. The price, with any VAT due, updates as you go. Prices and minimum quantities are per design: different names or artwork count as separate designs.
-
Upload your artwork. In your basket, upload a PDF, JPG or PNG for each design (front and back of the same piece count as one design), set up with the bleed shown in the artwork set-up for your product. Not ready yet? Choose upload later and add it from your order page after payment.
-
Free automatic check. Your file is checked as soon as it uploads for size, bleed, colour mode, resolution and fonts.
-
Check your proof before you pay. See your design on screen with the trim line, bleed and safe area marked, and approve it. Want a person to check it first? Add a manual proof and we send you a proof to approve.
-
Pay securely. Pay by card through Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe; we never see or store them.

Artwork Help
What is bleed? Bleed is extra background beyond the trim line, so there is no white edge if the cut is a fraction out. Add 3mm on every edge for most products, and 5mm for stickers, signs and banners. Keep text inside the safe area: 5mm in from the trim on cards and leaflets, 3mm on stickers and 10mm on posters and signs.
What is CMYK? CMYK is the colour mode used in printing (cyan, magenta, yellow and black). Screen colours (RGB) can print differently, so convert your design to CMYK before you upload.
What resolution do I need? 300dpi at the printed size for cards, leaflets and booklets. Posters, correx boards and banners are seen from further away, so 150dpi at full size usually looks sharp.
Free automatic check. Every file is checked as soon as it uploads, and you see an on-screen proof with the trim, bleed and safe area marked before you pay.
Need help? Add a manual proof and a person will check your file and send you a proof to approve, or contact us and we will help you get it ready.
Upload a PDF with fonts embedded or outlined for the safest result.
