Folded Leaflets for Order of Service (Funerals and Weddings)
A folded order of service is a single A4 sheet (210 x 297mm) folded in half to A5, which gives four panels: a front cover, two inside panels and a back. We print it double-sided on 135gsm or 170gsm gloss, from 100 copies. It suits a short service where a booklet would leave empty pages, and it needs no staples.
What fits on four panels. The front cover carries the name, a photo and the date, or both names for a wedding. The two inside panels hold the order of proceedings and one or two hymns or readings. The back panel is for a thank-you, details of a collection or of the gathering afterwards. If you need full words for several hymns, an A5 booklet gives you 8 or more pages.
Setting up the file. The file has an outside page and an inside page, each the flat A4 size plus 3mm bleed, 303 x 216mm. Keep text 5mm clear either side of the fold so nothing disappears into the crease. Our folded leaflet template shows where each panel sits, and the half fold spec page gives the measurements.
Which paper. 135gsm gloss is lighter. 170gsm gloss is heavier and feels more substantial in the hand.
Checking and timing. The automatic file check covers size, bleed, colour mode, resolution and fonts, not spelling. Read every name and date aloud before you approve the on-screen proof. The dispatch time for your options is shown on the folded leaflets page, counted in working days from proof approval, and most mainland deliveries arrive 1 to 2 working days after dispatch, as an estimate. If the service is very close, contact us before you order.
Folded leaflets are zero-rated where they qualify under HMRC Notice 701/10.
How Order of Service (Funerals and Weddings) uses Folded Leaflets
Short funeral or cremation service
Cover photo and name on the front, the order of proceedings and one hymn inside, and a thank-you with collection details on the back. Four panels are enough for a short service.
Civil wedding ceremony
Names and date on the cover, the ceremony running order and a reading inside, and the wedding party or a thank-you on the back.
Worked example: a cremation service for about 60 people
The service has a welcome, one hymn, a reading, a tribute and a committal. The family puts the photo and dates on the cover, the running order and hymn words inside, and a thank-you on the back, then orders 100 copies on 170gsm gloss.
Design tips
- Design the panels in the right place. On a half fold, the outside page holds the back panel on the left and the front cover on the right. The template marks both.
- Keep 5mm clear either side of the fold, so names and hymn lines don't fall into the crease.
- Don't overfill the inside. If the hymn words don't fit at a readable size, move to an 8-page booklet rather than shrinking the type.
- Use a scanned photo for the cover, and check the proof for a resolution warning.
- Read the proof aloud with someone who didn't write it, checking names, dates and times.

Is a folded leaflet or a booklet better for an order of service?
A folded A4 sheet gives four A5 panels and suits a short service with one or two hymns or readings. A stapled booklet starts at 8 pages and suits a longer service, full hymn words or several photos. Folded leaflets start at 100 copies and booklets at 50, so for a very small service the booklet may be the better fit.
What is the smallest order for folded leaflets?
Folded leaflets start at 100 copies, then 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500 and 5,000. Prices and minimum quantities are per design, so a second version with a different photo counts as a separate design. If you need fewer than 100 copies, an A5 stapled booklet starts at 50. The live price for each quantity is shown as you choose.
Can I fold it to DL instead of A5?
Yes. Folded leaflets also come as an A4 sheet roll folded or Z folded to DL, which gives six narrower panels. For an order of service, the half fold to A5 is the usual choice, because the panels are wide enough for hymn words and the finished size matches what guests expect.
How do I set up the inside and outside pages?
Make two pages, each 303 x 216mm including 3mm bleed. The outside page carries the back panel on the left and the front cover on the right. The inside page carries the two inside panels. Keep text 10mm away from the fold line on both pages, and use our folded leaflet template to place everything.
