Stapled Booklets, A5 Stapled Booklet
An A5 stapled booklet has pages of 148 x 210mm (14.8 x 21cm), made from A4 sheets folded in half and stapled twice along the spine. Choose 8, 12, 16, 20 or 24 pages, covers included. It is a natural size for an order of service, a programme, a menu or a small catalogue.
Every page is printed in full colour on 170gsm silk, with a self cover, from 50 booklets. Our booklet page count guide explains page counts and set-up, our order of service guide covers wording, and our booklet templates number every page.

Printed booklets and brochures are zero-rated where they qualify under HMRC VAT Notice 701/10; a booklet made mainly for writing in, such as a diary or an order form, is standard-rated.

A5 Stapled Booklet FAQs
Why do A5 booklet pages go up in fours?
Each A4 sheet is printed on both sides and folded in half, which makes four A5 pages. So an 8-page booklet is two sheets, a 12-page booklet three, and so on up to 24 pages from six sheets. If your content comes to 10 pages, round up to 12 and use the spare pages for photos, notes or a blank page before the back cover.
How many pages should an order of service have?
A simple funeral or wedding service often fits in 8 pages: a cover, the order of proceedings, readings or hymns, and a back page with thanks. Longer services with several hymns printed in full, or with photos, may need 12 or 16. Our order of service guide has a page plan.
Do I send single pages or spreads?
Single pages, in reading order: front cover, inside front cover, page 3 and so on, ending with the back cover. Do not arrange the pages into printer spreads or use a booklet print setting, as the pages are put in the right order for folding when we print. The on-screen proof shows each page so you can check the order.
Why keep text further from the spine?
In a stapled booklet the inner pages sit slightly further out than the cover, so the outer edge of the middle pages is trimmed a little more. Keeping text 8mm from the trim, and a bit more near the spine, keeps it clear. Our templates mark the spine edge on every page.
What is the minimum order for A5 booklets?
The minimum is 50 booklets per design, and the price per booklet drops at 100, 250 and 500. The table on this page shows the price for 8 pages; choose 12, 16, 20 or 24 pages in the options above to see those prices. Booklets with different names or content, such as two orders of service, count as separate designs.
Is there VAT on A5 booklets?
Printed booklets, brochures and programmes are normally zero-rated under HMRC VAT Notice 701/10, and our booklet prices are shown on that basis. A booklet made mainly for writing in, such as a diary, notebook or order form, is standard-rated at 20%. Our VAT on printing page has the details and the HMRC references.
