In short
A compliment slip is a small branded sheet, usually DL size (210 x 99mm), sent with goods, invoices or documents in place of a full letter. It is often called a comp slip.
A compliment slip, or comp slip, is a short piece of business stationery printed with your logo, contact details and usually the words "With compliments". It goes in with a delivery, a cheque, a brochure or a set of documents, with room for a quick handwritten note, so you don't have to write a full letter.
Size and paper
| Compliment slip | |
|---|---|
| Size | DL, 210 x 99mm, usually landscape |
| Artwork size with 3mm bleed | 216 x 105mm |
| Safe area | 5mm inside the trim |
| Our paper | 120gsm uncoated, the same as our letterheads |
| Printing | One side |
| Envelope | Fits a DL envelope (110 x 220mm) |
DL is one third of an A4 sheet, which is why compliment slips are so often printed alongside A4 letterheads.
What to put on it
Most compliment slips carry the same header as your letterhead: logo, business name, address, phone number, email and website. Leave the rest of the slip clear for writing. The uncoated paper takes a pen well, so notes and signatures look clean.
Matching your letterheads
Because our compliment slips and letterheads use the same 120gsm uncoated paper, colours and feel match when they are sent together. Compliment slips are stationery, so they carry VAT at the standard rate of 20%, included in our prices. Our letterhead guide covers layout and what UK companies must show on business letters.
