Posters, A2 Poster (420 x 594mm)
An A2 poster is 420 x 594mm (42 x 59.4cm, about 16.5 x 23.4 inches), twice the size of A3 and four times A4. It is a strong choice for shop windows, events, reception walls and film or gig posters: big enough to be seen across a room, still easy to frame and carry.

Supply a PDF in CMYK with fonts embedded or outlined. At A2, 150dpi at full size is usually sharp from normal viewing distance; use 300dpi for fine detail and small type. Landscape works too: turn the page.

How big is an A2 poster in cm and inches?
A2 is 42 x 59.4cm, or about 16.5 x 23.4 inches. It is half of A1 and double A3, with the same shape as every A size (ISO 216). That makes it easy to reuse a design: an A3 or A4 layout scales up to A2 without cropping, although small text and low-resolution images get bigger too.
What resolution do I need for an A2 poster?
At 150dpi, an A2 poster needs about 2500 x 3500 pixels; check your photo's pixel size in its file details before you design. At 300dpi it needs about 5000 x 7000 pixels, which is best for small text or fine detail. Logos taken from a website are usually far too small; ask your designer for a vector PDF or SVG.
A2 or A1: which should I choose?
A2 suits windows, walls and boards where people pass within a few steps. A1 is twice the area, so choose it when the poster has to work from further away, or is the main display at an event. If space is tight, A2 is easier to frame and hang. Compare sizes in our poster sizes guide.
Will an A2 poster fit a standard frame?
A2 is a standard ISO 216 size, so ready-made A2 frames are widely sold. Your poster is trimmed to exactly 420 x 594mm. If the frame has a mount, the mount will cover a few millimetres of each edge, so keep text well inside the 10mm safe area to be sure nothing is hidden.
Can I order just one A2 poster?
Yes. A2 posters start from one copy per design, and the price per poster drops at higher quantities. Prices on this page include VAT at 20%. Posters are printed on paper for indoor display; for outdoor signs, use a correx board instead.
