Posters, A1 Poster (594 x 841mm)
An A1 poster is 594 x 841mm (59.4 x 84.1cm, about 23.4 x 33.1 inches), twice the size of A2 and half of A0. It is a big, eye-catching size for events, exhibitions, retail displays and campaign posters that need to be read from across a room.
Our A1 posters are printed in full colour on one side of 170gsm silk paper as standard, from a single copy; gloss, satin and outdoor papers are also available. Our poster sizes guide explains resolution for each size, and you can download the A1 poster template with bleed and safe area marked.

Supply a PDF in CMYK with fonts embedded or outlined. At A1, 150dpi at full size is fine: people stand further back from a large poster, so 300dpi files are rarely needed and become very large. Landscape works too: turn the page.

How big is A1 in cm and inches?
A1 is 59.4 x 84.1cm, or about 23.4 x 33.1 inches. In millimetres it is 594 x 841mm. It is half an A0 sheet, which is one square metre, so an A1 poster covers half a square metre. Every A size keeps the same proportions under ISO 216, so an A3 or A2 design scales up to A1 without stretching.
Is my photo good enough for an A1 poster?
At 150dpi an A1 poster needs about 3500 x 5000 pixels. A photo of 4000 x 3000 pixels gives about 120dpi across the long side of A1, which can look acceptable from a few metres but soft up close. Images taken from websites or social media are usually far too small. The automatic check warns you about low resolution before you pay.
Why is 150dpi enough at A1?
Resolution matters most for things you hold close, like a leaflet. A large poster is seen from further away, so the eye cannot pick out the extra detail of 300dpi. Our templates and file checks use 150dpi at full size as the guide for A1 and A0, and 300dpi for smaller print.
When will my A1 posters arrive?
Posters are dispatched the number of working days shown in your basket after you approve your proof, and mainland UK deliveries usually arrive 1 to 2 working days after dispatch. Delivery is free to UK mainland addresses; Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands and islands, the Isles of Scilly, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands are by quote.
Can I order one A1 poster?
Yes. A1 posters start from one copy per design, and the price per poster falls at higher quantities. Our standard 170gsm silk is for indoor use; for outdoors, choose 115gsm blueback for pasting up or 170gsm waterproof PVC. For a rigid A1 sign that stands outside, choose an A1 correx board, which is waterproof.
