An A5 leaflet is 148 x 210mm (14.8 x 21cm), half the size of an A4 sheet. It is a popular all-round size for door drops, counter handouts, event flyers and price lists, with room for a headline, a photo and your contact details on each side.

Supply a PDF in CMYK with fonts embedded or outlined. For a double-sided leaflet, put the front on page 1 and the back on page 2. Landscape works too: turn the page to 216 x 154mm.
Leaflets are zero-rated where they qualify under HMRC VAT Notice 701/10, paragraphs 3.3 and 3.4: a single sheet no larger than A4, on paper rather than card, ordered in a quantity of at least 50, with any form or coupon area taking up no more than 25% of the page.

How big is A5 in cm and inches?
A5 is 14.8 x 21cm, or about 5.8 x 8.3 inches. It is exactly half of an A4 sheet, so two A5 pages sit side by side on one A4 page. Every A size is half the one above it and keeps the same shape, a rule set by the international ISO 216 standard, so an A5 design scales up to A4 or down to A6 without stretching.
Is A5 a good size for a door drop?
Yes. A5 has room for a clear headline, a photo, a short offer and your contact details, and it is small enough to handle easily on a delivery round. Put your main message on the front, because that is what people see first as it comes through the door, and use the back for detail such as services, opening hours or a map. Count the addresses in your area before you choose a quantity.
Should I choose 135gsm or 170gsm for A5 leaflets?
135gsm gloss is thinner and lighter, which suits big runs and leaflets that go through letterboxes. 170gsm gloss is thicker and feels more solid, a good fit for handouts people will keep. 170gsm silk has a softer sheen with less glare, so small text reads well under bright lights, and it takes a pen more easily than gloss.
Is there VAT on A5 leaflets?
Usually not. An A5 leaflet on paper, ordered in a quantity of 50 or more and meant to be read, normally qualifies for zero-rating under HMRC VAT Notice 701/10. A leaflet that is mostly a form to fill in and send back may not qualify, because the completion area must be no more than 25% of the page. Our VAT on printing page sets out the conditions.
What is the minimum order for A5 leaflets?
The minimum is 100 leaflets per design. Different artwork, or the same layout with different names or details, counts as a separate design with its own minimum. The price per leaflet falls as the quantity rises, and the price table on this page shows every quantity.
