Leaflets and Flyers, A6 Leaflets and Flyers (105 x 148mm)
An A6 leaflet is 105 x 148mm (10.5 x 14.8cm), the same size as a standard postcard and a quarter of an A4 sheet. It suits handouts, counter cards, vouchers and event flyers: small enough to slip into a pocket, a bag or a parcel, with room for one clear message on each side.

Supply a PDF in CMYK with fonts embedded or outlined. For a double-sided leaflet, the front is page 1 and the back is page 2. On a page this small, the 5mm safe area matters: text placed closer to the edge can be trimmed off.
Leaflets are zero-rated where they qualify under HMRC VAT Notice 701/10, paragraphs 3.3 and 3.4: a single sheet no larger than A4, on paper rather than card, ordered in a quantity of at least 50, with any form or coupon area taking up no more than 25% of the page.

Is an A6 leaflet the same as a postcard?
In size, yes: A6 at 105 x 148mm is the usual UK postcard size. Our A6 leaflets are printed on 135gsm or 170gsm paper rather than thick card, so they are made for handing out, leaving on counters and adding to parcels or envelopes. If you want the feel of a postcard, choose 170gsm, the thicker of the two papers.
Should I print A6 leaflets double-sided?
It is often worth it. An A6 front works best with one headline, an image and a call to action, and the back gives you room for your address, opening hours, a map or the terms of an offer. On a single-sided leaflet you have to fit everything onto one small page, which usually means smaller text and a busier design.
How big is A6 in inches?
A6 is about 4.1 x 5.8 inches. It is half of A5 and a quarter of A4, because each A size halves the one above it while keeping the same shape (ISO 216). That means a design made for A5 can be scaled down to A6 without distortion, although small text may then be too small to read comfortably.
How small can text be on an A6 leaflet?
Keep body text large enough to read at arm's length, and cut words rather than shrinking the type to fit. For print, we recommend no text smaller than 6pt and lines at least 0.25pt thick, and all text at least 5mm inside the trim. The on-screen proof shows the safe area so you can check before you pay.
Is there VAT on A6 flyers?
Usually not. A6 flyers on paper, ordered in a quantity of at least 50 and meant to be read and passed on, normally qualify for zero-rating under HMRC VAT Notice 701/10. A card mainly for writing on, such as a form to fill in and return, may not qualify. See our VAT on printing page for the conditions.
