A6 is half of A5 and a quarter of A4, with the same proportions as both (ISO 216). Four A6 flyers fit on one A4 sheet. Our guide to leaflet and flyer sizes compares A6 with A5, A4 and DL.
Flyer or leaflet?
In print terms they are the same thing: a single printed sheet. People tend to say flyer for something handed out in the street or at an event, and leaflet for something posted through doors, but we print both as one product on our leaflets and flyers page. The name makes no difference to the price or the VAT.
What A6 flyers are good for
A6 is small enough to slip into a pocket, a bag, a parcel or a till-side holder, and big enough for one clear message on each side.
| Use | Why A6 works |
|---|---|
| Handouts at events, markets and fairs | People take a small card more readily than a large sheet |
| Parcel inserts and offer cards | Fits in a mailing bag or box without folding |
| Counter and reception cards | Sits neatly by the till or in a small holder |
| Appointment and reminder cards | Postcard size, easy to keep on a fridge or noticeboard |
| Invitations and save-the-date cards | One event, one date, one place |
For a door drop with more to say, an A5 leaflet gives twice the area on each side. Our A5 leaflet guide covers that size.

Which paper for an A6 flyer?
- 135gsm gloss: the everyday paper, good for large handouts and parcel inserts.
- 170gsm gloss: heavier, so it feels closer to a postcard in the hand.
- 170gsm silk: a softer sheen that is easier to read under bright light and easier to write on, which suits appointment and reminder cards.
All three are paper rather than card. If you want something stiff that lasts in a wallet, a business card on 400gsm silk is the sturdier choice. Our glossary explains gsm.
Designing for a small page
An A6 page has a 95 x 138mm safe area, so every word has to earn its place.
- One message per side. On the front: a headline, one image and one call to action. On the back: the address, opening hours, a map or the terms of an offer.
- Print both sides if you can. It saves cramming everything onto one small page, which usually means smaller text.
- Keep text readable. Our minimum is 6pt; we suggest 8pt or more for body text, phone numbers and web addresses.
- Respect the safe area. Keep text and logos 5mm inside the trim. On a page this small, text closer to the edge is easily trimmed. See safe area.
- No thin borders. A narrow frame near the edge shows any small movement in the cut. Use a border at least 20mm wide, or let the background run into the bleed.
Our leaflet design tips cover layout in more detail.
Setting up the file
Make the page 111 x 154mm, which is the A6 flyer plus 3mm of bleed on every edge, and run backgrounds to the edge. Supply a PDF in CMYK with fonts embedded and images at 300dpi, the front on page 1 and the back on page 2. Our free A6 template has the bleed, trim and safe area marked, and our artwork guidelines list every setting.
When you upload, a free automatic check looks at size, bleed, colour mode, resolution and fonts, and you approve an on-screen proof before you pay. The check does not read your words, so proofread dates and phone numbers yourself. See proofs and file checks.
VAT and delivery
Leaflets and flyers are zero-rated for VAT where they qualify under HMRC VAT Notice 701/10: a single sheet up to A4, on paper, meant to be read, and supplied in a quantity of at least 50. Our A6 prices are shown on that basis; our VAT on printing page explains the conditions, including the 25% limit on areas to fill in or tear off, which matters for voucher-style flyers.
A6 flyers are dispatched 6 working days after you approve your proof, and mainland delivery usually takes a further 1 to 2 working days. Delivery is free to UK mainland addresses.
Questions
What size is an A6 flyer? An A6 flyer is 105 x 148mm, or 10.5 x 14.8cm, about 4.13 x 5.83 inches. With 3mm of bleed on every edge, the artwork is 111 x 154mm. Keep text inside the 95 x 138mm safe area.
Is A6 the same size as a postcard? Yes, A6 at 105 x 148mm is the usual UK postcard size. Our A6 flyers are printed on 135gsm or 170gsm paper rather than card, so they are made for handing out and adding to parcels. For a postcard feel, choose 170gsm.
How much do 1,000 A6 flyers cost? 1,000 double-sided A6 flyers on 135gsm gloss cost £27, or 2.7p each, with free delivery to UK mainland addresses and no VAT to add where they qualify.
How many A6 flyers fit on an A4 sheet? Four. A6 is a quarter of A4: two across and two down, with no space for bleed. You only need this for home printing; when you order from us, upload one flyer and we print and cut the quantity you choose.
Should I print A6 flyers on both sides? Usually, yes. A small page fills up fast, and the back gives room for the address, opening hours, a map or the terms of an offer. Compare the single-sided and double-sided prices in the table above.
Is there VAT on A6 flyers? Usually not. A flyer is a leaflet for VAT, and A6 leaflets on paper ordered in a quantity of at least 50 are normally zero-rated under HMRC VAT Notice 701/10. If more than 25% of the flyer is a voucher or form to cut out, it may be standard-rated.
