Quantity
Quantity is per design. Different names or artwork count as separate designs (e.g. business cards for 3 staff = 3 designs). A double-sided item is still one design.

Leaflets and Flyers for Trades and Construction
A trade leaflet is usually A5 (148 x 210mm) or A6 (105 x 148mm), delivered to homes near a job you are already doing. We print leaflets and flyers in A6, A5, A4 and DL (99 x 210mm), single or double-sided, on 135gsm gloss, 170gsm gloss or 170gsm silk, from 100 copies. Leaflets are zero-rated for VAT where they qualify under HMRC Notice 701/10.
What works on a trade leaflet. One clear service, the area you cover, a reason to call now and your number in large type. A photo of your own work is worth more than a stock photo. If you are working on the street already, say so: neighbours can see the work for themselves.
How many to drop. We don't quote response rates, because they vary too much by trade, area and offer to be reliable. Count the homes in the streets you want to work in, multiply by the number of drops you plan, add spares and round up to the next quantity. Note where each drop went and ask new customers how they found you.
Which size and paper. A6 is small and quick to deliver. A5 gives room for a photo, a list of services and a price list or offer on the back. DL fits a standard DL envelope and suits a leaflet left with a quote. 135gsm gloss suits large door drops; 170gsm gloss or silk feels firmer. The leaflet and flyer sizes guide compares them, and the leaflet templates give the artwork size with bleed.
Ordering. Every upload gets a free automatic check for size, bleed, colour mode, resolution and fonts, and you approve the on-screen proof before you pay. Check the phone number and any prices yourself, because the check doesn't read your words. The dispatch time is shown on the leaflets page, counted in working days from proof approval. Delivery is free to UK mainland addresses, and every paid order has a VAT invoice.
How Trades and Construction uses Leaflets and Flyers
Door drops around a current job
A5 or A6 leaflets delivered to the streets around a job, mentioning the work on the street and offering a quote.
Cleaning and gardening rounds
A5 leaflets with the services, the areas and the days available, delivered to streets close to existing customers.
Seasonal offers
A leaflet for boiler servicing before winter, gutter clearing in autumn or garden tidying in spring, sent to the same streets each year.
Worked example: a window cleaner's first round
The cleaner picks four streets of about 120 homes each near existing customers: about 480 homes. Planning two drops a month apart, that is about 960 leaflets, so they order 1,000 A6 leaflets on 135gsm gloss and keep a note of which streets reply.
Design tips
- Lead with the service and the area, such as Domestic cleaning in your town.
- Phone number in the largest type on both sides.
- Use a photo of your own work, with the customer's permission.
- Give one reason to call now, such as a seasonal offer or a free quote.
- Keep text 5mm inside the trim, as the template shows.
- Check prices and the number on the proof before you approve it.

Leaflets and Flyers for Trades and Construction: FAQs
What size should a cleaning or trade flyer be?
A5 (148 x 210mm) is the most common size for trade and cleaning flyers, with room for a photo, services and your number. A6 (105 x 148mm) is small and quick to deliver. DL (99 x 210mm) fits a standard DL envelope and suits a leaflet left with a written quote.
What response should I expect from a leaflet drop?
We don't quote response rates. They vary too much by trade, area, offer and timing for any single figure to be reliable. The best guide is your own record: note which streets you covered and when, ask every new customer how they found you, and repeat the drops that work.
Is there VAT on trade leaflets?
Leaflets are zero-rated where they meet the conditions in HMRC Notice 701/10: in short, a single sheet up to A4 (or up to A2 folded to A4), on limp paper, in a run of at least 50, with no more than 25% of the area for filling in. Your basket shows the VAT on each line before you pay.
How many leaflets is the smallest order?
Leaflets start at 100 copies, then 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500 and 5,000. Prices and minimum quantities are per design, so a leaflet for each service or each season counts as a separate design. The live price for each quantity is shown on the leaflets page, so you can compare quantities before you add one to your basket.
